ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 28, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dynamics Research Corporation (Nasdaq:DRCO), a leading provider of innovative management consulting, engineering, and technology solutions to federal and state governments, today announced that it was awarded a task order with an estimated value, including option periods, of $11.5 million by the Defense Media Activity (DMA) through the General Services Administration (GSA) Alliant contract. The contract enables DRC to continue providing thought leadership, analysis, and technical expertise on emerging media options and creative services in the form of writing, editing, videography and web site design and development to the U.S. Department of Defense's Office of Public Communication. The contract also provides the capability to expand the scope of services to support the consolidation of other military Service and DoD media components. The contract has a three-month base period and four one-year options.
"DRC is committed to supporting the DMA's mission to enhance the abilities of the Secretary of Defense, Service Secretaries, JCS, and other military leaders to communicate messages and themes to disseminate command information, improve quality of life and morale, and sustain readiness of the Department of Defense," said Jim Regan, DRC's chairman and chief executive officer. "We are also extremely pleased to be awarded one of the first task orders under the new Alliant contract, a key strategic vehicle that will help accelerate DRC's growth in the federal IT market."
DRC was awarded the Alliant contract in 2009 to support the federal government's needs in its daily operations, its protection of infrastructure, the fight against terrorism and the development and marketing of emerging technologies. The government-wide acquisition contract has a five-year base performance period and one five-year option period.
The DMA was created on Oct. 1, 2008 to modernize and streamline media operations by consolidating military Service and DoD media components into a single, integrated and transformed organization, allowing for more efficient, timely, responsive and comprehensive distribution of information products and services through both traditional and emerging media technologies. The DMA provides a wide variety of information products to the entire DoD family (Service members, family members, retirees, DoD civilians, and contract employees) and external audiences through motion and still imagery, print, radio, television, web, and related emerging Internet, mobile and other communication technologies.
